This game is for many fans the masterpiece of Vital Lacerda, this second edition has been totally redesigned, it has a completely new iconography, the wooden components have been improved, but the splendid illustrations of the board and the cover have been kept, the rulebook has been revised and rewritten including many 3D images and examples for easy understanding, in relation to the game itself it has been made more balanced, a new deck of events and new mechanics that improve the previous ones and all this by adjusting the duration of the game.

It also includes solo game mode, cooperative variant and competitive variant.

In the 1970s, the world's rulers were faced with an unprecedented demand for energy, and polluting power plants were built all over the earth to meet that demand. Year after year the pollution increased and nobody did anything to reduce it. Now the impact of pollution has become too great and humanity has realized that it must produce energy from clean sources. Companies with experience in clean energy have been called to propose projects that allow energy to be produced without polluting the earth. Regional governments are willing to finance these projects and invest in their implementation.

In CO2 each player is the CEO of an energy company and will try to respond to new government requirements to create green power plants. The goal is to stop pollution while meeting the growing demand for energy, and of course making a profit doing so. The energy congresses will reinforce ecological awareness and will allow companies to share their experience and learn from that of other companies.
