EXPRESS PATCHWORK

Express Patchwork is based on the same game mechanics as the original Patchwork, but with a smaller playing area and larger, less complex pieces. . This version is a simplification of the original game, specially designed for children and older people.

In this strategy game, each player tries to sew the prettiest (and highest scoring!) on your personal 7×7 board. At the beginning of the game, the colored patches are randomly placed in a circle, and the initial marker is placed in a particular location. Each player will receive a few buttons, which are the currency / victory points of the game.

In turns, players buy scraps from among those available and move a number of spaces according to the complexity and value of the scrap they have chosen. As they progress around the board, they receive buttons and compete for the best pieces of cloth. There will also be 1x1 pieces on the board, available to the player who gets to those squares first. At a certain point in the game, the blue patches (smaller and therefore easier to fit) will be added to the circle of patches around the board. When both players have reached the central square of the board, the game will end and they will get points according to the space they have been able to fill with the pieces. The score could even be negative! The player with the most points wins.

Making a beautiful quilt takes a lot of time and effort, as the available scraps don't fit together easily. Choose your patches wisely, place them on your quilt, build up a large stock of buttons, and don't leave too many gaps... or they'll cost you the game.
