Obsession: Wessex

John and Katherine Smythe, Viscount and Viscountess of Wessex, had watched with envy the new energy sweeping Derbyshire. His Jacobean manor house, one of the largest and oldest in the county, had proven more difficult to maintain during the lean years. The family had twice sold large swaths of the productive Derbyshire countryside to avoid more drastic measures.

Meanwhile, craftsmen arrived at the neighboring Ponsonby estate. Viscount Wessex's valet James discovered that Ponsonby had inherited a fortune from a rich uncle and everyone could see that the earl was determined to make the most of it.

But Viscount Wessex had a plan. His determined wife, who felt very attached to the estate, finally agreed to sell a strip of fertile riverside land to a rich duke, who intended to use one of the largest areas of the purchased land as a hunting preserve.

Very soon the land would change hands and that's when the game would begin!
