Village Rails

In the quiet English countryside, life goes on undisturbed, just as it has for centuries. You will be in charge of traveling to every corner of these green and pleasant lands, with the task of bringing modernization, attending to the peculiar demands of the locals, and contributing to the beginning of the age of steam.

Area construction card game, where the winner is the one who gets the most points by completing the 7 railroad lines on a 3 x 4 grid.

Taking turns, you can draw railroad cards twelve times in total. When you take a Track card you can take the bottom card for free, but if you want a card higher up on the track you have to put a coin on each previous card. This is fine as the game progresses, but it can be a bit overwhelming at first since you only start with five coins. You then place the railroad card on your board, either next to the edge of your grid or orthogonally next to a previously placed card. Of course, if you draw a card with a coin, you immediately add it to your supply.


In addition to the Rails card, you can also draw a travel card (the card that grants points in Village Rails). To do this you must pay three coins and then you can take the card below for free.

Once again, if you want to take a card further up the lane, you must place a coin on each preceding card. Next, place this travel card at the beginning of one of your seven uncompleted lines around the outside of the border.

Each line can hold two travel cards, so it could theoretically be possible to place fourteen cards, but this is highly unlikely as it would be unusual to have enough money.
