More info

Slay the Spire is the board game edition of the well-known indie video game. Slay the Spire is a cooperative Roguelike deck-building adventure (what's more of a dungeon crawling experience). Build a unique deck and customize it to your liking, encounter and confront strange creatures, discover relics of immense power, and finally become strong enough to complete the adventure.

This edition includes all content unlocked during the Kickstarter campaign, except for some campaign-exclusive items.

Slay the Spire is a Deckbuilder, that is, a deck building game as the main mechanic. That means each player starts with a simple deck of cards that they can improve by adding cards, upgrading them, or removing them. You will use your deck in combat to fight enemies of increasing difficulty. It is also a dungeon crawler, with the classic characteristic of this type of game: when you die (and you will die!), you start again from the beginning. Take good note of the lessons you learned and try again!

Each act lasts approximately 20 minutes per player (and unlike the PC game, 1 to 4 players can participate in this version of the board game!). However, you can stop the game at any time and continue with it whenever you want. To win, you'll have to reach the top of the tower and defeat the final boss (or you may decide to finish early without discovering the dangers that await ahead). Of course, like any good dungeon crawler, death lurks and with it will come the end of the game.

Game dynamics

In Slay the Spire, you will choose one of the 4 available heroes to face a mission, the end of which will be a fight against a boss. Throughout the map, you will find various icons that represent encounters with creatures of all kinds, elite monsters, events in which you will have to make different decisions, camps in which to rest and recover, treasure rooms with a wide variety of relics that They will help you on your way and much more. It is up to you to select one route or another until you reach the top of the Tower.

In the game there are 4 totally different characters. The Armored One is a specialist in dealing a lot of damage, sometimes even at the cost of his own health. The Stealth is a specialist in long-term combat, she has a large number of stealing and discarding skills and prefers to kill her enemies little by little using poison. The Defective uses a good variety of orbs and powers that will help him resist and face all kinds of situations, and finally, we find The Vigilante, who uses different combat poses (Anger, Calm...) to focus her skills on deal a large amount of damage or gain additional energy for future turns.

You will start the game with a specific and very little varied game deck (basically, cards to attack and defend in addition to some initial card specific to your character) but as you defeat enemies and find treasures on your way, you will be able to increase your number of cards and its variety, as well as improve your deck with special and more powerful attacks, unique abilities of different rarities, special powers of all kinds, curses and magical attacks of all kinds to finish off your enemies, effect cards that will allow you to weaken your enemies etc. Of course, defeating elite enemies also has its rewards in the form of relics and artifacts that will make your task easier. Additionally, on your way up you can trade, acquire potions, special colorless cards, and much more.

On your turn, you will have a certain amount of energy that you can use to play the cards you want, until this energy runs out. Then it will be your enemies' turn. In this way, the confrontation will take place until you defeat all the monsters or die in the process. Your enemies will use all kinds of actions to try to stop your advance and finish you off: basic attacks, defenses, damaging effects that will weaken you throughout the fight, unique special effects specific to each type of creature... the path to the final boss will not be easy. Once you reach the end of your journey, you will have to be well prepared for the worst: each final boss has unique abilities and characteristics that will test your deck construction. You better arrive well rested, with a good amount of life and with a balanced deck that allows you to overcome any challenge.
